Bharat Bandh called by trade unions

Ten central trade unions have announced 'Bharat Bandh' on 8 January in protest against the economic policies of the Narendra Modi government. Many branches of banks may remain closed on Wednesday, as bank unions have
asked employees not to accept keys. ATM services may also be affected in many

Bank of Baroda said that it is taking necessary steps for
smooth functioning on the day of the strike, but if the strike improves, the
functioning of its branches and offices may be affected.

Syndicate Bank said on Saturday that it is taking necessary measures to keep its operations normal in view of the proposed strike of labor organizations on 8 January. The bank told BSE that it had proposed a Divyang general strike from the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), the Indian National Bank Amloz Federation (INBEF) and the Indian National Bank Bank Congress (INBOC). I have received notices. The bank said it sees it taking all necessary steps to keep the operation normal, but this may affect the functioning of branches / offices.
State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest bank, has
expected the impact of the bank strike on services while Bank of Baroda fears
that the strike may affect operations. SBI said in a stock exchange filing,
"Our bank employees 'membership in the unions participating in the strike
is very low, so the impact of the strike on the banks' operations will be
minimal."
